RADICAL SURGERY FOR OSMIDROSIS AXILLAE BY RESECTION OF SWEAT GLANDULAR LAYER

Abstract
A strong foul odor is a symptom of hircismus put from the axilla by bacterial decomposition in the apocrine sweat glands and this is seen more frequently in young women of late adolescence than in men. The fundamental treatment of osmidrosis axillae is to eliminate the sweat glands from the axilla and there are many operational method used.

A follow up study was carried out postoperatively from 6 months to 16 months. The results are as follows:

1, Of the 15cases, 14 were female and the average age was 21.4 years.

2, Following surgery, testing indicated a remarkable decrease in axillary sweating.

3, Scarring was minimal, almost invisible because it followed the skin creases.

4, All patients were in satisfactory condition following surgery.
